Gender Equity (GE) in Education Project
The goal of the Gender Equity in Education Project is to partner with Long Island School Districts and to be a resource to them in examining their practices and programs for gender fairness. Through funding of programs, projects, services and initiatives as well as collaborative educational efforts, the program highlights the issues of gender equity in education and encourages girls and young women to pursue math, science, engineering, technology and sports. It supports the initiatives that deal with problems of harassment in schools or the workplace, or the rise in bullying and/or gang-related violence. It provides lessons learned from women's history in education and employment to further support advocacy & empowerment, leadership and civic responsibility, to reaffirm a bedrock belief that individuals have power, that one voice can still be heard and that singly and as a group girls and young women can make a difference.
